Did I ever mention that buttons make me happy? I probably do about twice a week.
Last week I meant to go find buttons for my latest puerperium, but then Kaya got ill – and my favourite button lady only has a stall in town once a week.
Yesterday we made it.
The feeling of six perfect little yellow wooden buttons in my pocket made my day.
Strange and lovely things, buttons.
I couldn’t help myself but buy a few of these tiny darlings (for more of these). They have a beautiful mother of pearl sheen you can’t see so well in the photos.
So now the white cardi is all done, along with the green one I finished a while ago. My husband picked the buttons for that one. He is very good at finding perfect buttons too, but somehow I don’t think he gets quite the same kick from it.
So now, one of them will stay here and wait, while the other one will travel up North to my friend’s house – and wait.
Now on to more knitting so we have a good excuse to get more cute buttons!

So the secret is now out, that is where our sweet Kaya gets his button addiction from.
I have not stopped by to congratulate you yet on the new baby, that is very exciting, good luck to you. This is great because both of my favorite bloggers are both pregnant now so I get to watch you both go through this special time.
I am excited, take care of you.
Hugs Leila
I guess it runs in the family…
Thank you for your good wishes, Leila – an exciting time!
You have a button lady??? Such sweet luck! I love the shimmery buttons and I wish I had a button lady to buy buttons from.
Yes, we are very lucky. She is a lovely lady with lovely buttons, and I always have to make sure I don’t buy half her stall!
I’m hopeless at buttons, I wish I had your knack. Those little sweaters are adorable, so exciting to think of them in use.
Maybe ask your partner, I never guessed mine was any good at buttons!
Yes, buttons make me happy too! I love the ones you bought. I have quite a little stash at home I “borrowed” from my mum…
That’s the way!
I have a thing for buttons myself. I have a gallon jar filled with buttons that I have collected for over 30 years. The wee one loves to just sit and go through the jar sorting them into bowls.
Wow, that must be such a treasure in your jar!
i totally understand… just got my buttons in the mail for my current puerperium. : ) those two are so cute that you’ve made. i’ll have to make a short sleeved version in cotton too.
It’s a wonderful pattern, isn’t it? This is my puerperium no. 9, I think..
Those cardigans are beyond adorable…and your button selections are perfect. I just finished a little baby cardigan and sadly had the small sorry little sad selection at one of the national chains as my button source. Now that I’m trying my hand at knitting and sewing I’ll have to find a more fun source!
I hope you’ll find one, button picking is such fun if you are lucky to have a good selection!
When I was a kid my mum had a box of buttons of all different sizes and shapes that I loved to play with. I never knew where they came from, but over the past few years I’ve accumulated my own box of buttons that have come as extras with various clothes, or just come off and never been sewn back on (I am not so good at getting to the handwork), which my youngest daughter loves to play with. It makes me happy
Ha, that’s where a lot of my buttons come from too
Those are the sweetest sweaters!
