At the end of last week, we were on our way back from the supermarket. We always walk over a bridge crossing the canal, but this time there was a new sight.
There has been ongoing work to restore the canal, and this stretch was ready in time for a trailboat festival and the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations.
We didn’t go to the actual festival, but we did stand by ‘our’ stretch of canal and watched boats being lowered into the water one by one, and making their way up and down the canal – for the first time in 100 years, apparently.
Good that we’d just come from the supermarket too, so we had some food supplies – there were a lot of boats to watch!
