20131004_144439This weekend felt like a proper one.
Returning from long walks, pockets bulging with conkers. Good thing that the baby won’t wear his hat – more available storage space for conkers while out and about. Just one more shiny one, one big one, one more to pop out of its prickly shell.
Emptying the bounty into my bag to carry upstairs, running out of bowls to put them in. Some jam jars had to do. Conkers everywhere, I’m sure the Mr is rolling his eyes when we’re not looking.
We tried not to collect any more conkers as we soaked up the autumn sun, picking up colourful leaves to press instead.
How I love this season.

This might be a dumb question..but are conkers the same as chestnuts? Lovely outing!!

Ah, the many uses of hats 🙂 We have lots of black walnut trees BUT the squirrels get there first.

Conkers are chestnuts, right? I’m thinking they look like the same things we’d buy in France, roasted and delicious – yum!
